The White River has long been favored as a top trout fishing destination in the country, and internationally, and justifiably so: it grows BIG fish!  Rainbow, Brown and Cutthroat trout thrive in the clear, cold, bug- and baitfish- rich tailwater below Bull Shoals Dam.  Fly anglers can fish a variety of flies, from dries and nymphs to streamers and hoppers, depending on the season.  The fluctuating water releases from the dam stimulate the fish and most anglers choose to navigate the river by floating it with a guide in a drift boat or a “River Jon” – a flat bottomed, spacious and stable aluminum vessel outfitted with a jet drive motor and oars.

A great time on the water is made better by a great place to relax and rest at the end of the day, and this trip features accommodations at the newest lodge in the area (May 2018), and situated right on the water.

Spring is a fantastic time to fish The White because of the insect activity, specifically the Caddis flies, and because of the lush beauty of the hills that shoulder the river. A trip to The White is a fly fishing adventure that is centrally located and suited for all skill levels.  Do you have a spouse, child or friend that is getting into fly fishing that needs a good tug to get them going and excited?  Or maybe you’re ready for a chance to catch a Brown trout as “big as your leg”? Let the trout of the White River provide the tug, and Backwoods Adventures will take care of the rest!
