Additional Information

Air Arrangements

You will want to schedule your flight to arrive no later than 12pm on Day 1, and depart anytime on day 11. We always recommend coming in a day early in the case of a delay. On the final day of the tour, you may leave at any time. Please be sure to check with us prior to purchasing your ticket to make sure the flights you have chosen will work well with the tour itinerary and that the tour is sufficiently subscribed to operate. Once purchased, most airline tickets are non-refundable and carry a penalty to change. We are not responsible for these fees. Also, it is imperative that we receive a copy of your comprehensive flight itinerary—including any and all flights not covered in the tour fee—so that we may track you in the event of missed connections, delays, or other mishaps.

Single Supplement Option

The single supplement for this trip is $400. If you do not have a roommate but wish to share, we will try to pair you with a roommate from the tour; but if none is available, you will be billed for the single supplement. Our tour fees are based on double occupancy; one-half the cost of a double room is priced into the tour fee. The single supplement is calculated by taking the actual cost of a single room and subtracting one-half the cost of a double room (plus any applicable taxes)

Breakfasts are typically eggs, toast, ham, baked beans, mushrooms, black pudding, yogurt, and fruit along with coffee and tea. Lunches are some combination of bread, cheese, meat, fruit, vegetable, and cold drink. Tea and snacks are served at the lodging sites. Dinners consist of local pub fare including soup and bread, salads, haggis, burgers, fish, and Scottish pies. Vegetarian and other special diets can usually be accommodated with advanced notice.

Our accommodations may vary based on availability. During the trek, we will be staying in B&Bs, hotels, and hostels. All accommodations are based on double occupancy.

The West Highland Way is a long and somewhat challenging trail and can be accomplished with an average fitness level. The elevation is about 1800 feet in the highlands with more rugged terrain. We will be hiking with day packs so the trek should not be too exerting despite the mileage. Talk to your doctor about vaccinations, prescriptions you are taking or might want to take with you in case you get sick.

Single Supplement

All prices are calculated for double-occupancy. To ensure your comfort, we will always match you with a roommate of the same sex – and if we're unable to match you with a roommate, you may end up with your own room free of charge. If sharing is not your idea of fun, you can request a single supplement for a small upcharge when you pay your final amount. You will be able to make this election on your trip registration.
