Meet at Caprock Canyon State Park at 4:00 pm, where each client's campsite will be set up and waiting each client will be assigned their tent and campsite. After settling in, get prepared to begin our first hike at 5:00 pm to catch the sunset. Once back at camp, await for dinner to be served around the campfire, complete with dessert and entertainment.

After an excellent camp breakfast, it will be time for the first hike up Haynes Ridge to the Fern Cave where a picnic like lunch will be served before hiking back to camp for a well-deserved relaxation before the afternoon hike. The afternoon hike will be around 4 miles up to see the Natural Bridge on the Eagle Point Trail. We will arrive back at camp in time to get prepped for dinner, dessert, entertainment, and it all will be served around the campfire.

On the last morning in the park, an optional sunrise hike is going to be provided. This early morning hike to catch the sunrise will start at 5:30am with headlamps. Breakfast will be served around 8:30-9am before departure out of the park. The Backwoods’ camp and guide team will take care of all breakdown and cleanup of all non-personal items. Do not forget to stop to see the Official Texas State Bison Herb on your way out of the park!

Come experience the massive canyons and beautiful rugged landscapes of Texas’ third largest state park! We’ll hike over 15 miles of the park’s well-kept trails over the course of the weekend. All your meals will be prepared by our seasoned camp cooks followed by dessert and entertainment around the campfire as well. All the gear for each client’s campsite will be provided, this includes tent, bed and bedding, camp chairs, camp table and a cooler. This is a unique trip to visit an incredible Texas state park that is off the beaten path and see some of the best that the state has to offer.

The Backwoods team will prepare all meals for the clients (no skimping here—this is a big benefit of having a base camp). Traditional trail snacks are provided, but all clients are welcome and recommended to bring their own favorite snacks. The Backwoods team knows that well-fed hikers are happy hikers and aim to please! Special dietary considerations can usually be accommodated with at least 30 days advance notice.
Meet the Backwoods Adventure Team at Caprock Canyons in the newly improved campgrounds for deluxe tent camping, restrooms, running water, and electricity nearby. There is a small lake in the park where you will be able to enjoy catching some largemouth bass in the evening if you prefer.
This trip includes hikes of multiple miles over rough and uneven ground. There may be steep descents and ascents, so physical preparation is very important.
All prices are calculated for double-occupancy. To ensure your comfort, we will always match you with a roommate of the same sex – and if we're unable to match you with a roommate, you may end up with your own room free of charge. If sharing is not your idea of fun, you can request a single supplement for a small upcharge when you pay your final amount. You will be able to make this election on your trip registration.

Cole Shobert is the Backwoods Adventures Travel Specialist and he specializes in making travel dreams come true! Cole hails from Lubbock, Texas, and when he’s not sending folks on amazing adventures around the world, you’ll find him somewhere in wild West Texas hunting, fishing, or mountain biking with his dog and best friends.
Tristen Rodriguez manages Backwoods Paddlesports in Fort Worth. From April to October, you can find Tristen loading kayaks, canoes and paddlobards on the Trinity River just outside of downtown. As a Fort Worth native and outdoors enthusiast, Tristen feels right at home working at Backwoods Paddlesports. During colder weather, Tristen works at Backwoods Fort Worth and hosts regional adventures like our Big Bend Hiking adventure. Tristen enjoys kayaking, bass fishing, and bouldering in his spare time.
